TEAMING UP TO HELP PITTSBURGH-AREA TENANTS IN PUBLIC HOUSING EVICTION cases

When Reed Smith associate Jerry Dickinson approached the Neighborhood Legal Services Association in Pittsburgh with the idea of teaming up to help low-income tenants facing eviction, Dan Vitek admits he was a little hesitant.
“We take these cases so seriously, and they get complicated very quickly,” said Mr. Vitek, Neighborhood Legal Services director. “These are intense cases that are a lot of work.”
But eviction proceedings can be an intimidating process for a tenant to try to go it alone, he added, and for the nonprofit legal aid agency to have assistance from a firm the size of Reed Smith was enticing.
